Homeschool

After praying about it for several years and talking with many friends and family members, my husband and I have decided to homeschool our oldest son for kindergarten.  He has attended an excellent preschool at our church, so they have really helped to set up our first year of homeschooling.

I've looked at A LOT of curriculum.  It has been fun to look through all of the options out there and there are TONS of options.  It can be a little overwhelming, but I think, in the end, you have to choose what you think looks best for your family and just go for it.  If it isn't working out along the way, I think you have to adjust as necessary. For our family, we were looking for:
  • Affordable
  • Bible Based
  • Hands-On
  • Easy-to-teach Integrated Curriculum
  • Includes a Comprehensive Teacher's Manual
The curriculum that I finally chose that met all of these requirements was My Father's World.  See here for more information.

It's always great to learn from others as they decide what works best for their family, so I will be blogging about any extra supplements I use as we journey through MFW Kindergarten: God's Creation from A to Z.

We are starting kindergarten at the end of May because our little boy was begging to start!  I wanted to capitalize on his excitement, so our kindergarten year started on May 26. This way, we can take breaks when we want and jump into first grade whenever he's ready!
